Snowdays and Skating

The kids loved their three snow days and when we could finally get down the hill- I took them rollerskating for the first time. 4 days in a row of great nappers and unique fun.

Poor Travis had to park at the bottom of the hill two days and walk down early in the morning. We all screamed our goodbyes, then got bundled up to have some fun.

Carter was also quite the worker. This shovel kept him busy for at least 20 minutes. That's big.

The kids couldn't figure out that Enzo's Jeep just wasn't going to work. Poor Enzo, having to push while my kids got a ride.

For some reason, Maizy has just kind of become Tyler's dog. He ADORES her. Constantly lays on top of her, pets her, walks her around the house like it's a dog show, always wants to feed her, as well as give her timeouts daily when she is not really wanting to be walked around the house by collar being presented. It's very sweet though. So one snow day he asked me if I would take pictures of them together. A little photo session of the two. Poor Maizy gets woken from her oh so nice nap, as Tyler gives her kisses, pets, hugs, just a good SMOTHER.

But Tyler says this is his favorite picture ever. I asked why and he says "It's my favorite cause I am hugging Maizy and just love her so much."

Carter: "Mama, I have an idea?" (oh boy I think- he does this a dozen times daily in the same fashion)

Me: "Yes Carter"

Carter: (and always in a complete sentence and much louder) "My idea IS (emphasis on "is" with a pause)... If I do this, we go to the mountain with cousin Luke and wear two skis."

We have been so lucky with our weather.... kicking January off with a little sun (parks days yay!) and now with some snow. We went to a favorite duck pond and caught ducks on ice.

Last Days of Christmas

The Last Present of Christmas

It seems as though we have a new tradition... "The Last Present of Christmas"

It shows up daily starting on Christmas and walks right up to you. amazing! Yes, the boys love announcing it and being unwrapped.

My childhood bestie, Melissa, was in town from London with her family. We had a great morning catching up with the Donnellys... and the kids loved the English tea biscuit type treats Liam and Emma shared with them- it made this picture possible! (Carter light blue, Tyler navy)

We had our first sleepover this New Years Eve at our friends the Van Pelts. Got in a good dose of dominoes (for adults) and hungry hippos (kids below)... so fun the kids could all just go up to the playroom and play together on their own. And AMAZINGLY enough, they all went to bed perfectly. However, it was our wild boys who woke up the house that New Year Morning carrying around a lightsaber as a flashlight and investigating the house. Andy commented on their energy level in the morning. Yes, that's every morning... it's exhausting!

HAPPY 90th BIRTHDAY to my wonderful Grandma.

You would never guess she's 90! Her thoughtful conversations, kindness, memory- it's truly incredible.

I come out from taking Anna potty to have this outside the door... a lineup of dragons, dinosaurs, you name it, perfectly stacked in a bunch in front of us, and two blue "dragons" hiding behind them. silly boys. and quick too!

Annamarie's 18 month checkup

A month late (yes she's 19 months) but here's how she measured up:

29 pounds

and she went potty in the toilet TWICE while at the appointment. YAY! I really do need the motivation to just "go for it" before she turns two and stubborn!

A Very Dragon Christmas

Christmas Morning

What a Christmas! Travis says to me, "I don't know how you slid it by me to have 3 parties" . . . hee hee hee. But it was an affair with families and friends... and you know me and hosting- I love it. And I love the holidays. But the kids, wow, it just gets better and better every year. I will forever remember two particular sounds from this year.

1) The boys singing "Rudolph" (such sweet little voices) and Annamarie on cue with her "Ho Ho Ho" - priceless.

2) Laying in bed (too early) Christmas morning and hearing the giant shriek "SANTA CLAUS!" - wonderful.

I ended up finding a cheap little tree for the kiddos. They were thrilled to have their own and to decorate it. It was a little assembly line of Tyler and Annamarie stealing ornaments from our big tree and handing them up to Carter- who really didn't need a chair but I think he thought that made him special. We have a star on the top of our tree so I asked if they wanted to put an angel on the top of theirs.

The Answer:

Tyler: "No, I want us to go in the sky, catch a green dragon, and put that on the top of our tree."

On Thursday we celebrated Camden's Birthday and the Christmas Pickle at Gigi and Popi's. Kylie was the big finder.

Immediately after blowing out the candles, Holden announces for everyone to grab a candle. The sign of a good cake.

So excited to cake and ice cream watching Gigi dish out!

"Christmas Adam" (as the Bringhursts called it growing up) we had Travis' aunts and uncles and cousins over for our annual White Elephant wine tasting. The kids got their first dose of presents... and dragons!

Tyler so impatient for us to open the first dragon of Christmas, he just starts ripping it open with his teeth.

Christmas Eve my parents, Zan and Janna, and Aunt Joanie joined us for an early dinner and church.

The boys ended up crashing after church to not be able to open presents from us, so Santa's morning was a big one! Below is my favorite picture.

Christmas Afternoon my entire mom's side of the family celebrated at Gigi and Popi's. We even tried to act out the Nativity Story for the crowd. As Travis said, "I thought there was going to be sacrificial lamb at the Birth." Yes, Annamarie played a sheep and midstory got a good tackle from her shepherds (aka Tyler and Carter)... VERY entertaining reenactment.

"Nay-Nee" (Lani) is one of Annamarie's FAVORITE words and people. She will say her name so excited, over and over again, the entire way if we are heading to see her.

The Perfect Tree

And so it goes, every year we meet Gigi & Popi at "The Home of the Noble" to find our perfect Christmas tree. It was Annamarie's first time scouting out the terrain, and the boys made it their mission to find one that "sang to us"- and oh, get lost.

Just giddy to be part of it all.

Travis found the winner! My typical boys- they can't keep their hands off each other. ever.

I find Tyler sitting on a stump: He says "I am going to just sit right here till Gigi finds a tree and comes." Oh boy, I tell him, that could be awhile :)

Auntie Rhonda came for a Christmas Weekend. The kids are always so excited to see her. We took her on the Polar Express and she played "Auntie Rhonda Claus" one morning- stuffed with a pillow, dressed up and all! Kids were besides themselves!

What Auntie Rhonda pulled out as a surprise? Rudolph noses! They glowed and all. Tyler (above) now just LOVES Rudolph. He can't get enough. He watches the show, sings the song, and of course dresses up every day.

The Polar Express! We almost missed the train... but what a treat! The boys were in awe of EVERYTHING and Annamarie was her typical self just working the crowd and visiting with everyone (although she looks grumpy here).

Two Dragons and a Butterfly

What a weekend full of Halloween Events. We kicked it off Saturday with Howloween at the Zoo. So fun to see so many little ones all dressed up.

Gigi had games planned and all. One was to eat a bat cookie hanging from a string.

Then it was Carter's turn and in "Carter Style" he walked up - got his little mischievous smile- grabbed the cookie and took a bite. Easy enough.

Even Anna took part - and no, she didn't cheat like Carter :)

Then it was a Halloween Dinner... Mummy Meatloaf, Ghost Mash Potatoes and all... what's impressive is we all took turns to try to make a ghost but Michael was the best. So we made him do it. Mr. GrumpyPants he claimed to be about it... but the picture below shows he quite enjoyed it. Travis added the eyes. Loved catching the moment on camera.

These two little girls are great. Anna got a kick pushing Lani around- it made her night.

Then once in a while she would stop... walk around the stroller, make sure Lani was still there, giggle out of excitement, and go back to push her again. So happy.

Popi capped the night with an Uffelman Halloween Classic. And there's my little girl who, forget the book, just loves to pose.

HALLOWEEN! On Monday we made a snake for a party at Enzo's House (our neighbors)... The boys had so much fun painting it (of course blue and green).

First Family Trip

The boys were very excited for "vacation" and as we were leaving they traded off saying:

"Wait Mama! With Auntie Rhonda?"

Me: "No"

Boys: "Gigi and Popi?"

Me: "No"

Boys: "Cousins?"

That's when I realized this was the first time we went somewhere.... just us. And it was wonderful.

We went to Sunriver for just a few days. The swimming pool was the big hit. But we enjoyed bike rides, walks, and just being a family.

Annamarie walked from person to person staring them down until they looked. Then she gave them a huge grin, chuckle and wave... and walked onto the next. Definitely made her mark at the pool.

She was seriuosly hysterical. She sat on the edge of the pool and just relaxed.

Then in the water she would just float on her back... quite the life.

Everyday the boys talk about their cousins. And they were BEYOND excited for "Cousin Luke" and "Cousin Brinn" to come visit. Amazing the memory of little ones. When they become fond of someone it just sticks. They hadn't seen Luke in a year but had never forgotten he's not just one of their best playmates- but one of their favorite people.

Took no time at all to get the fun all started. The first night Brian and Karen got here we had dinner at Gigi and Popi's with Nana.

Brian is definitely "That Uncle" and I mean that with love :) He is rough and tough but so much fun. Just getting in with the boys and having a wild time. They adored him through all the torture and fun.

Anna discovered why her brothers love throwing rocks. Aunt Janna had to keep piling them in front of her to toss. The best was her proud chuckle after every throw.

Aunt Janna took us up to the house they just bought on the Sound. We couldn't go in... but enjoyed the view. Wow. Very happy and excited for you guys!

That night Janna and I walked in to see the boys sleeping like so. We separated and walked back in to find....

still touching. Remind me of when they were infants and shared a crib. All swaddled they got a hand free to reach out to the other.

The boys were AMAZED by the market. All the fish- oh my. Notice behind them the one being thrown. Probably not a good idea to show them but we made it through with little damage down.

Then came "the shark" oh my. People gathered around to watch these two- they kept going up to pet it and the fisherman behind the counter pulled a string to make it move. I even screamed the first time. a sight.

Everyday I need to get out of the house with the kids. It's a must. Not just for them- but for me. . . but truth be told, it doesn't always go well. And I always get looks from people, cause to say the least- we are kind of a circus. But this morning is one of those that leaves me with a smile- just feeling so lucky.

It was simple. We got in the car with nowhere to go. The usual. And I left it up to two toddlers. So of course it was the patented "OH Please Mama" that Carter always says (it's that "oh" part that always gets me) that makes me give into the request for the zoo. I bit my nails the whole way there wondering how this was going to go... and sit smiling now (after petting each of their heads asleep for a nap- again another just wonderful moment) to say it was a perfect morning. I loved it.

We had a beautiful visit with Great-Grandma a couple weeks ago. She is truly a remarkable lady. The boys were in heaven with the animals, and Anna and Grandma shared some sweet giggles and smiles.

A month of firsts for The Mack Pack. We have spent many mornings in the strawberry fields picking our desserts, the boys started their first swimming class, and Annamarie got her first shiner (from the coffee table-not the boys thank goodness). Here are the classic pictures of the month:

A Wild Week

We had a wonderful week of activities with Auntie Rhonda and Uncle Ben. Annamarie's birthday party kicked off the week of events- but the fun continued. Parks, Beach, Camping, you name it!

First excursion was the Oregon Coast. Uncle Ben had never seen it (which I thought was completely ridiculous- too beautiful to miss!) so we HAD to go! And of course our first stop was Camp 18.

Fishing and Camping: Rhonda and Ben did the coolest thing for a bday gift for the boys. They hooked up real fishing poles to a clothes pin and gave them gifts fishing over the ledge (remember the carnival game when we were younger?) Then Rhonda put a magnet on the end of the poles and many squishy fish to play in the yard later. SO FUN and fitting for our campout (in the backyard) that night. The boys couldn't WAIT for their first "camping trip" . . . Everyone (minus Anna) slept in the backyard. Great Fun!

Happy Birthday to my sweet Annamarie!

Being "One" truly suites her. I remember just months old and how she could light up a room with her smile. . . but now she is just too proud and happy to be on her own two feet and part of all the action. She beams everywhere she goes. . . giving the best hugs (with a sweet pat on the back), purposely creating "uh-ohs" and chuckling, and teaching Tyler and Carter she can hold her own. She's one tough cookie with so much personality. It's hard to outshine her brothers sometimes cause they always get so much attention, but as she waves bye-bye to strangers and stares them down until she gets a smile back, my little girl often steals the show.

It has been a never ending celebration with parties and Auntie Rhonda and Uncle Ben up visiting. From the actual day and intimate dinner with my parents and Nana (her great-grandma) to a wild and crazy owl-themed party with family and friends. . . Anna has lived up every moment! She amazed everyone by prancing around showing off her new walking skills on her big day- the life of the party. It was hysterical and too cute. (Keep reading to take the poll we had at the party!)

TEN FISH!

It has been a long time dream of the boys to go fishing with our Uncle Bill on his "big boat" . . . It happened last weekend at Hagg Lake and expectations were not just met for them but Travis and I also had the BEST time!

We thought we would be lucky if the boys made it a couple hours out on the water if that and we never thought we would catch much. . . but more than 5 hours later, we were driving home TEN fish. So much fun.

THANK YOU Uncle Bill! You have been the talk of the household since!

Fish #1 Took a while. . . So I started this "game" to hopefully bring us luck: We took our own goldfish (crackers) and started feeding them to each other to motivate the fish to start biting. It worked like a charm!

They loved holding and playing with the caught fish (poor things) but one wiggled up towards Tyler's face and gave him a big kiss. Tyler threw it down TERRIFIED. I caught the latter moment. His disbelief. It was hysterical.

The conversations these two had were too funny. Talking about the fish, how to catch them with their "bear claws". . . classic. The three adults were laughing all day.

The boys fell asleep within minutes of leaving the boat dock. We followed Uncle Bill back to his place for him to clean and gut out the fish for us. Then the moment came I was nervous for. . . Tyler and Carter woke up HOURS later (exhausted boys!) and came downstairs begging to see the fish. "Uh oh" I thought as I was sure they expected to see them in a tank or something. But being the realist I pulled out the ziploc bag of headless fish and Tyler looked up at me with huge eyes and stated "They look DELICIOUS!" Okay then.

The boys are obsessed with their new bikes they got for their birthday from Gigi & Popi. The bike helmets are also what happens when you take three-year-olds on their big day to pick out their own gear (yes, I would have loved a simple blue or something). . . But they were too excited about the obnoxious sharks (and you can't say "no" on a birthday!) and now wear them around even when not riding bikes. . . which actually seems like a pretty good idea now that I think about it.

My two sunshines turned 3 this past weekend. They are so big to me now. Such tall, talkative charmers that it seems God is taking more and more of the "baby" out of them daily. I had tears putting them down to sleep as their last night as two-year-olds. . . I know that sounds pathetic. But I was also so excited for them because they both just beamed from excitment to have a birthday and "be a big boy" . . .

For their special day, the fire station up the street let us come up with friends to take a station tour. They all got to go on the firetruck- it was a wonderful treat for all the kids. Then it was back to the house for some dinner and more importantly the cake. The boys asked Gigi for an alligator cake and it was amazing- she outdid herself, once again. Thank you Gigi!

Saturday we headed to Uncle Bill's and Aunt Devon's for an Easter lunch and egg hunt. Everytime we visit, the boys love checking out Uncle Bill's fishing boat but he had an even bigger surprise for Easter. . . he pulled out his rods and let the boys practice casting. That night we had our first egg dying experience ever! The boys went right to it. Carter dying every egg blue, Tyler green (their favorite colors). . . It turned into quite the race- Tyler would quickly dunk, say "here Mama" and grab another egg just to have as many green as possible. Amazing enough- the shirts ended up clean and no dye was spilled!

Thank goodness for some nice days lately! It has been WONDERFUL getting these boys outside just to run and play. . . bur our March was a different story- full of indoor fun.

The boys cannot WAIT to go fishing. They do it off our couch with hangers. But a fisherman at the park let them see his trout. They were amazed.

Now for the warmer days: We have been enjoying a different park a day. The boys regularly act like pteranadons in swings and Anna just loves it. We run trails, hunt for alligators, dinosaurs and bugs. No matter what I tell them about dinos and alligators- Tyler is still determined that we will strike luck in some forest.

Starting with the MOST present- I just took this picture. I guess it was such an sweet moment for me I had to grab the camera and post it. Annamarie thinking she's a big girl playing trains with her brothers. We think she is growing up so fast and that she is huge but then this picture just makes me laugh and realize how SMALL she actually is. so small.

One morning I was getting the boys dressed and the moment I took off their shirts they paused, looked at each other and for a brief moment life stood still and I thought "uh oh" cause I knew something was going to happen . . . but I never imagined this! They started saying to one another "CHEST BUMP" and laughing hysterically while bumping chests. Not kidding, for about 10 minutes. They were giggling uncontrollably. Was one of the funniest sights! Two shirtless boys having an absolute ball- but who taught them chest bumps? My mom tried to blame "The Irish" but when I asked them, they immediately responded "Popi!" . . . classic.

My 8 Month Old

Look Closely!!! Annamarie has her first tooth. She has had her finger in her mouth for months now and finally it popped up this week. Right as she turned 8 months. . . but it was the day before she was the big 8 when she crawled forward her first legitimate 4 feet or so. . . She long ago mastered crawling backwards causing her to get stuck under coffee table, couches, you name it and was rolling and scooting and getting to where she needed since 5 months so I am shocked it has taken this long but THANK GOODNESS. I guess when you have pure entertainment 24 hours (her brothers) who also wait on her hand and foot- who needs to crawl? I am just hoping my "walk at 18 months" deal with her sticks. Although I have slowly gained confidence that she is not going to be . . . how do I say this properly. . . active? crazy busy? downright rambunctious? okay I said it. . . like the boys. She enjoys sitting and watching and playing much more than they ever did. . . and she is NEVER short of smiles. It's pretty incredible really.

The Holidays

December came and went. . . . simply put . . . but not simply lived. It was a month overwhelmed with memories, reflection, prayer, tears, hugs, and joy. Earlier in the month we said goodbye to "Grandma." The boys still talk about wanting to see her, it's heartbreaking. But her timing, impeccable. To be a perfect beautiful soul with Ron (Grandpa) and her parents for Christmas is truly a Christmas Miracle. None of our children got her gorgeous twinkling bright blue eyes but I am reminded of her infectious and warm smile every day in Annamarie. I think she got her glow. Linda truly glowed.

One thing Linda did "big" was Christmas. And I mean "big" - the stories are great. But I do remember the first year meeting Travis and him telling me about their tree every year- pretty much Griswold style and his dad swearing like he does every year "never again." Then I saw it with my own eyes, so confused how it got there, and more so how she decorated it without major injuries! But I think both Travis and I had her in the back of our mind cause we went "Linda Style" and got the biggest tree we could possibly fit in our house. It was beautiful. . . I am sure Travis had flashbacks as we smooshed it through our front door.

We started a tradition the past two years of going to "The Home of the Noble" with Gigi and Popi.
Auntie Rhonda joined us this year. She was in town for two weeks staying with us which the kids LOVED! She got woken up every morning by two overjoyed little boys who only wanted to "see Auntie Rhonda" from the minute they got out bed.

One of the owners came up to me and said she remembered me pregnant last year as she gave Anna a smile. Wow- that made me stop in my tracks. I don't know why. It's the double effect that makes no sense- in that it's hard to imagine when my little baby wasn't in my life but yet the realization of what can all happen in a year!

We went on the Polar Express this year with Uncle Mike, Aunt Kylie and Kiddos and Cousin Amy, Tom and Chiara, and all of our parents. The kids seriously LOVED every moment. From the big train . . . to the hot chocolate . . . to the bells Santa handed out and not to mention the minute we got off board, it was pouring down SNOW! Travis and I looked at each other scared of the travel home from Hood River, but later realized how neat of timing it actually was.

Christmas keeps on "getting better" . . . the boys were able to think about it as "Baby Jesus' Birthday" - and they LOVE birthdays . . . plus they got really excited to pick out gifts for people- they really wanted to get Travis cookie cutters but a helicopter was their second choice- we went with that . . . . and of course they were just delighted to get gifts of their own!

New Years Eve we celebrated East Coast Style (at 9pm) with our friends Andy and Jenise and their kids Grace, Henry and "Baby Sam". . . . always a great time!
The weekend after Christmas we went to Stayton to celebrate Great Grandma's 89th birthday.

My cousin Victor and wife Mylie had twins the same year of us- Ned and Sarge are adorable!More fun memories included the boys getting to go to Zoolights with Gigi and Popi (below), Travis and I getting to go to Civil War and just more smiles in the midst of the holiday season. As you can tell Anna's brothers still love holding her and giving her attention. Besides the T-Rex's and Firehouse, she is their favorite toy. She adores them.
So goodbye 2010 and hello 2011. . . Since the second year we were married Travis on New Year's has always hoped for "A Boring Year" . . . I guess when we think about in the 5 years married we have had to say goodbye to parents & loved ones, lived in 3 homes full of their own stories, carried numerous jobs and and of course brought into this world 3 amazing kids. . . the years have flown by not empty or boring but full of blessings and memories.

My mom made a delicious feast which was devoured in minutes because we had to keep an eye on these rascals! The four little boys get such a kick out of one another but it is crazy. Below they are pretending the chair is Noah's Ark as Camden told the story and they all rushed to jump aboard and save each other. Such a sight.Between that and legos, ring-around-the-rosie, and storytime, Tyler and Carter were EXHAUSTED- but not before tackling their cousins one last time!Aunt Kylie caught Cousin Elena sitting with Annamarie. Annamarie's Half Birthday

6 months old already?! Gigi & Popi and Zan & Janna came over for dinner and cupcakes. Tyler & Carter loved singing "Happy Half-Birthday" all day long. AND blowing out her candles (the only reason why we had a candle!).Above: Wearing another outfit Gigi saved as mine. It's very fun that she has some hand-me-downs from way back when . . . look at those fantastic legs!!

Other than that . . .
They are seriously hysterical. Watching TV this morning I look over. . . a huge couch and Carter is on Tyler's lap. That would typically cause a tackling war, but they were both so content. I very carefully took the picture so not to disturb the peaceful moment- and I don't mean just for them :)Above: Annamarie got her hands on a dinosaur and would not give it up- already a tomboy. . .

From the Pumpkin Patch to Halloween, we have had a fun-filled-fall!

The boys loved the patch all fall long. I took them to "the farm" up the street many mornings to get our vegetables, play in the hay, and visit the animals. (Tyler in turquoise/Carter in orange)

But we saved the big trip to be with Daddy and they were so excited for the long-awaited "Tractor Ride" . . . (Tyler in turquoise/Carter in orange)Below: Chucking Apples- then Carter sneaking one for himself We had originally bought a tiger and MONKEY costume- but in normal "Tyler and Carter Fashion" they had to be the same thing, no matter how cool we tried to make the costume monkey seem.
The boys made the rounds on Halloween. First off was Nana's. . .then Grandma's . . .then Gigi and Popi's for trick-or-treating. "Go trick-or-treating" was the request for days after that. They had so much fun. Every house they wanted to go inside and check out the decorations. . .

They dragged their bags behind them on the ground- too much candy! It was very funny cause the thought it was just great to have a bag-o-candy as a pull toy.

Annamarie is 4 Months Old

Almost 15 pounds now - She is simply the best thing ever.
I know everyone get s a kick out of her brothers, but Annamarie watches them all day long grinning ear to ear. She gets schlepped everywhere, stuck in her car seat, woken up from naps, only given half of what she wants to eat, the list goes on- and is always content. It is truly amazing. Here are some current pics:

Above: She loves the jumperoo just like the boys. They will be playing around her and the minute she feels like she wants attention from them she jumps and jumps until they look and then just laughs. It's adorable.
Below: Our friends Andy & Jenise just had their third, little Sam. He is just days old. How big they get in just 4 months!
